Getting rid of pregnancy weight after giving birth is difficult especially if you’re breastfeeding your newborn. You need to find a way to lose the extra weight while taking in the necessary nutrients for your baby. The below tips should help you out.

Do not diet
Instead of dieting, we recommend eating a well-balanced variety of foods. Keep different snacks in the house to keep you from feeling hungry and to give you energy throughout the day. Eg. Apple slices, carrot sticks, wheat crackers.

Load up on ‘super foods’
When you’re nursing you need to eat foods that are packed with essential nutrients. Avoid unhealthy fast food and start consuming more milk, yogurt, lean meat and lots of greens which are high in calcium protein and fibre. These will keep you feeling full for longer too.

Drink plenty of water
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day prevents you from getting dehydrated. It also fills you up so that you don’t eat as much.

Exercise
Exercising after pregnancy to burn calories and keep your muscles and bones strong is a must. Exercise not only helps you to lose weight, it helps you with depression, stress and sleep issues which every new mom faces.

Proper sleep
It may seem impossible to get a good night’s sleep when you have a baby waking you up throughout the night, but being sleep deprived could make it harder for you to shed the baby weight.

Try to sleep whenever your baby sleeps, Catch as many naps as you can during the day and go to bed early until your baby starts sleeping through the night.
